ENGLAND VS AUSTRALIA:
THE ASHES RETURNS
Picture this; the year 2003, England had just been whitewashed 3-0 in their own backyard. The Aussies showing why they are the “big dogs” of Rugby League. Little did we know that this would be the final Ashes series.
22 years later, the Ashes series are to return to England, with aims to put Australia firmly in their places. Gone are the days, of narrowly getting beat by them in the World Cup, or even not even making the Final in the more recent home World Cup. Coach Shaun Wane will have high hopes and will already putting plans into place to thwart the best Australia have to offer. With the likes of Jack Welsby at the back, with 2024 Man of Steel Mikey Lewis controlling the attack, it is sure to be a series like never before.
It is also great to see the locations of the series; with the Australians loving the Capital, the opening test will take place at Wembley Stadium, followed by a second test in Everton’s newly built Stanley Moore Dock Stadium in Liverpool, with the final test match, the potentially deciding match at Leeds Rhinos’ AMT Headingley Stadium… A series not to be missed.
