HAWKHEAD HITS THE GROUND RUNNING AT BEDFORD
Having made the move ahead of the start of the Southern Conference League, there were big expectations on Alfie Hawkhead’s shoulders coming from Castleford Tigers’ reserve set up. Wanting to further his career, Alfie made the decision to move down to the south to have a crack at first team rugby and he did not disappoint.
Whilst playing in a not too familiar position of halfback and his more preferred 9, Alfie has shown plenty of quality and helped his new teammates with club morale, setting up 2 tries and scoring 1 himself. Not only that, Alfie has also shown a few additional benefits of his team selection, with pressure releasing kicks and supporting through line breaks.
Bedford have come under a little bit of pressure due to dip in form, but Alfie and the lads are working hard to pick that form back up and challenge at the top of the SCL.
